Jesse Hayes

JESSE HAYES is an artist and songwriter based in the greater Boston, Massachusetts area with experience in many facets of the music industry.

Jesse is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist proficient on bass, guitar, piano and percussion. As a session musician he has recorded with members of both the legendary funk band The Time and Prince’s New Power Generation.

As an arranger he has worked with The Hawthorne String Quartet whose credits include “Schindler’s List” and “The Secret of Roan Inish”.

As a songwriter Jesse has written and co-written for a variety of independent and major label artists and in 2006 he founded Hazel Family Music Publishing with his wife and songwriting partner Arielle Hayes. His ability to evoke emotion has earned him success overseas with four songs on the 2006 debut of EMI-Japan artist Aika, including the single “Orange Moon” which entered radio charts at Number 9.

Jesse feels strongly about using art to better society and raise consciousness. In 2006 he was commissioned to contribute music to the award-winning documentary “Prison Pups”. He has written for the 2001 benefit album “Just A Little Thanks”, with all proceeds going to the families of NYC fire fighters after 9/11. “We Are All Connected”, Mercy Corps 2006 collection to aid the woman and children suffering in Darfur, Sudan, features “Love Myself Instead”, co-written with spoken word artist Abria Smith and Arielle Hayes.

As a graphic artist and creative consultant Jesse has been hired by an array of artists including Walter Beasley (Headz Up Records) and Ronny Jordan (Blue Note Records) to help develop album concepts and packaging. He has been recognized for his ability to tap into a timeless quality with his designs.

Jesse’s experience extends to the non-profit sector and includes work with Berklee College of Music’s “City Music Programs” (from 2003 - 2006) developing curriculums, teaching classes and helping to secure full-tuition scholarships for talented youth in under-served urban communities in the Boston area and around the country.
